The New Mexico Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NMAHPERD) is the largest professional organization representing professionals in these fields in New Mexico. Our members presently are impacting society at all levels from early childhood to university instruction to community education.
During 70 years as a professional association, we have promoted quality educational experiences for children as well as adults. As the leader in the promotion of quality education, NMAHPERD has been very influential in the development of state standards and benchmarks. These documents in the fields of Health and Physical Education serve to define the characteristics these programs should contain. As these documents are disseminated, NMAHPERD continues to be very involved at the legislative level with the development of new initiatives designed to improve the health of New Mexico’s children.
